What are Browser Notifications?
Browser notifications are alerts that appear on your desktop screen when you receive an incoming call in Regal, even when the Regal tab is not in focus (meaning that Regal is open in a tab, but the tab is minimized or not selected). These notifications allow agents to stay informed about incoming calls without having to keep the Regal application tab open and visible at all times.
When an agent receives an incoming call in Regal, a browser notification will appear showing the contact's name (if available) and their phone number. Clicking on a notification will automatically accept the call and bring you to the Regal app with the connected call.
How to Enable Browser Notifications
Browser notifications are only available for Chrome (our only supported browser) on Mac OS or Windows devices. For agents using Task Auto-Accept, browser notifications will appear briefly and disappear after ~1 second, as the call is automatically accepted.
Step 1: Allow Chrome to Show Notifications on Your Device
First, you'll need to ensure system-level notifications are enabled for your browser:
- Open System Preferences/Settings
- Navigate to Notifications
- Find Google Chrome Helper (Alerts) in the list of applications
- Note: Be sure to turn on notifications for "Google Chrome Helper (Alerts)". "Google Chrome" settings do not impact Regal's browser notifications.
4. Ensure notifications are enabled for browser
-
-
-
- We recommend that you choose notifications to appear as Alerts. Alerts will remain on your screen until the notification is clicked, the call is accepted/ends, or you return to Regal. Banners will appear briefly and automatically disappear after a few seconds.

-
- If "Notifications" is not visible from the menu, click "Site settings".
- In "Site settings", set permissions to "Allow" for notifications from Regal.io
-
4. Reload your browser to reflect your updated permissions
Notification Troubleshooting Checklist
If you're not receiving browser notifications for incoming calls, use this checklist to help identify and resolve the issue:
- Confirm you're using Chrome on a supported device (MacOS or Windows)
- Check your device's notification settings:
- Notifications are allowed for Chrome on your device
- Notifications are not snoozed (Do Not Disturb is off)
- Verify Chrome notifications are enabled for Regal:
- Notifications are enabled for Regal.io specifically
- You've reloaded the Regal page after enabling notifications
- If you're sharing or recording your screen:
- For Mac: Enable "Allow notifications when mirroring or sharing the display" in System Preferences
- For Windows: Check your screen recording software settings to allow notifications
- If you're using a monitor:
- The notification should appear on your device (eg. laptop), and won't be visible on your monitor
- If you have Task Auto-Accept enabled:
- Browser notifications will appear briefly and disappear after ~1 second, as the call is automatically accepted
